Is there any different between a Chinese Muslim food restaurant and to a halal Chinese restaurants here in Malaysia? I don’t see there is much different between them.

Homst, located at Persiaran Za’aba, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, categorize itself as a Chinese Muslim restaurant. It is very cosy and comfortable and the outlet is typically Chinese, Cantonese and Teo Chew with some homemade variety dishes.

A great family outlet, for large Chinese food style dinner. However during Ramadan the fasting month, we didn’t eat there but ordered takeaways instead.
Homst makes it easy for takeaways. You call the number, they’ll prepare it and by the time you reach there your food is already there. Well if they have some sort of a delivery service, that would be awesome.
Here is what our typical Homst takeaway looks like.

Five types of dishes with white rice.

Some tofu.

Sambal prawns.

Egg foo young.

Some vagie, Kailan.

And pandan chicken.
While Homst might not be the best Chinese food you will ever taste, it is not bad either. With the cosy environment, friendly and efficient service, makes Homst a great dining experience.

Actually, Chinese or not it’s not the question here. I always go to eat at any Chinese Vege restaurants. Some of my friends (Muslims) don;t dare to eat at those places. I told them it has nothing to do with animals or meat so how can it be non-halal? They said the oil…i told them, a vegetarian or vegan or even a Buddhist vegetarian cannot consume anything that related to animals so means no animal oil involved in it..so it’s animal free so it’s pork free….some of them are Lacto-vegetarian means they are vege but only consume dairy products suck as milk, eat cheese, egg and other dairy products…that’s all and it’s still pork free…one thing only concern by them. When a restaurant do serve alcohol then it’s consider not halal and that’s why TGI Fridays, Sushi King have no HALAL certificates coz they serve alcohol but only halal food…HALAL is not just about the food..it’s about the cleanliness too…
